We are elated to share that repairs to the Monument are complete! Thank you to our Monument Committee Chair John Olson for his tireless efforts for the last seven months while we have worked with vendors and the driver's insurance carrier to cover repairs. Landscaping elements will be refreshed as a final step. We appreciate the community's support as we have thoughtfully restored our landmark. 


As always, we are grateful for financial support to maintain the Monument and ensure it remains a sterling asset to our community. You can support our efforts by making a contribution through "The Great Oak Lawn Fund" at the Communities Foundation of Texas.

We sincerely appreciate our neighbors' patience as we re-build our beloved Monument. A serious vehicular accident in September 2024 caused major damage to the bollards, landscaping, and the Monument itself. Out of an abundance of caution to protect pedestrians, we elected to enclose the Monument site with a chain link fence to prevent injury due to exposed structural elements. 


The Oak Lawn Committee has been negotiating with the driver's insurance carrier to cover losses, and as of January 2025, we are pleased that repairs are underway in earnest. We expect construction to be complete by the first quarter of 2025 barring any unforeseen circumstances.

THE LEGACY OF LOVE MONUMENT AT THE OAK LAWN TRIANGLE

THE MONUMENT

After many years of neglect, the traffic triangle at the intersection of Oak Lawn Avenue and Cedar Springs Road received an award-winning renovation. The ingenious and creative design by local landscape architect Cheryl Baez incorporates a column monument and garden in a way that unites, reflects and celebrates the diversity and variety of elements of our neighborhood.
